Eyeing the future

So here I am, 10 months to the day I last blogged. Obviously I had been too busy with work to blog, so freelancing must have been working out quite well for me, right? However, after a few big jobs that each paid the bills for a few months, the only regular jobs I have managed to secure would only cover about a third of my monthly expenses. What I have now (or will be receiving) would only last me through June. My options are:-

1) To hustle for more writing jobs from my contacts, and to write good quality articles that I can sell to article-syndication services or magazines both local and overseas. Failing which, I might just have to bid for job from those from online freelancing job sites like odesk.com and elancer.com. I'm not looking forward to these, though, as the pay is really crap and it's so obvious most of them are paying real writers to do the work they really should be doing themselves. I mean, for example, someone who works as a children's book writer wants someone to write the book for them and they'll pay, like 10 bucks or something. I'd rather slave over a top-notch original article and send them out to as many relevant media as possible.

2) While still writing freelance, I would also need to up the ante on my online shops LoveFate Clothing and Love/Fate Jewelry. I'll have to increase inventory as well as marketing and may have to look into opening up the occasional booths as well.

3) Go back to working full time if the two options above don't pan out. The option I'm not looking forward to the most. Not only do I cherish being able to stay at home with baby and be the number one person in her life just by being the person she sees and interacts with the most, I'd hate to think that I'd be going backwards after making inroads with this freelancing thing.

By hook or by crook, I just gotta make this work. I'd better get back to work and finish up my monthly write up for a young woman's magazine before hitting the jewelry "workshop" (aka my home office cum store room) and get busy making bridesmaid jewelry, as I need to increase my items to 50 products on Etsy and anything wedding seems to be trending right now.
