Stay Focused Working At Home
As a freelance writer working from home while also taking care of a 16-month-old baby, and occasionally the older sister as well if she doesn't have school, I do find it hard to totally focus on any one assignment in one go (oh yeah, there's also the mountains of housework just calling and calling your name). So what's a work-at-home-mom to do? Here are some tips from this article I found on Remodelista, 8 Ways To Stay Focused When You Work At Home :-
1. Take care of distractions before working - Guess I should prioritise housework before work, then.
2. Work at your best time - That would be whenever the kids are asleep.
3. Work at a table or a desk - Check!
4. Keep your to-do list visible - It's there somewhere under the pile of notebooks and magazines on my desk... I mean, dining table.
5. Add deadlines to your task list - Only works if your list is visible. One reason why I need to move off my dining table onto my home-office desk.
6. Keep email notifications turned off - Not really a prob since I don't get that much email nowadays.
7. Have water and healthful snacks close by - Okay! (plus points to the writer for using the term healthful instead of healthy snacks! The latter always makes me cringe)
8. Take breaks and stretch - Seems like the simplest thing to do on this list, yet often forgotten.
Do check out the full article at Remodelista for further information on these tips that are more helpful than my commentary here ;)
p/s: I just found out about Remodelista today and it looks like one cool interior-design site that I'll keep coming back to!
NOT my home office, but I can see how I can make mine something like this. Hmmm....

Also NOT my home office, but closer to what I believe I can achieve.
