6 Easy Ways To Boost Energy
Yep. Energy. Again. Well it is something I wouldn't mind having more of, and the easier it is to attain, the better. This post on Popsugar Moms outlines 6 ways for moms to do this, and I love that all the points require relatively minimal effort.
1. Multivatimins - We don't all get the recommended amount of nutrition needed daily to make full use of our day, so multivitamins provide what we're missing in one easy-to-swallow capsule. Some even need to be taken only once per day so that minimises the hassle. I prefer the "Executive B" type of multivitamins as I believe they help boost both physical and mental energy. You could also look out for multivitamins formulated specifically for women or for a multivit that addresses a specific problem you may have, for example, iron-deficiency.
2. Decrease sugar - A bit hard for me as I believe I am borderline hypoglycemic, due to the fact that sometimes I get woozy when I stand up from a sitting or crouching position, and that I have very, very low blood pressure. The treatment for hypoglycemia is to eat more carbs, but I don't like having to eat all the time and chocolates always do the trick for me! But I guess this less-sugar route should be given a try once in a while, especially on really low-energy days. Apparently eating lots of complex carbohydrates (e.g. wholegrain bread and pasta), vegetables and fruits and drinking lots of water will give a big energy boost. Ooh! Soy bean milk and skim milk are complex carbs, too. I love it when they have the way-easy option.
3. Get some sunshine - Easy enough! Now if only I can remember this.
4. Reward yourself - It's supposed to motivate and energise you, but I'll have to draw up a rewards chart. I don't think I'll have enough "rewards" for myself to match my to-do lists, but I'll keep this in mind.
5. Get a check-up - Sometimes fatigue can be caused by internal health problems. Once this is determined, less serious cases can usually be treated by taking supplements (see point #1).
6. Exercise - I know for a fact that exercising really does give you more energy, having been more active in a previous life, but I constantly feel too tired to move my booty nowadays. But I do need to get rid of this gut, though, and I notice that fit people always look attractive, even if they don't have the "right" facial features. Right, time to turn up the MTV and get moving! I just hope it's not Karaoke OK - Korea version.
